Our lab employs multidisciplinary, cutting-edge techniques to dissect transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of gene expression using embryonic/blood stem cells as model systems. We aim to understand how transcription factors control spatiotemporal gene expression and how genetic information within regulatory regions cooperates with TFs to determine cell fate. We hope to use this knowledge to develop cures for genetic diseases.
Ongoing projects include (1) the role of transcription factor kinetics in controlling gene expression; (2) the role of biomolecular condensates in gene expression; (3) using chemical genetic tools to study transcription factor dynamics and explore potential therapeutic strategies for targeting transcription factors; (4) how enhancers are organized for the precise spatiotemporal control of gene expression.
